School Enforcement

Captain Mike Rinehart

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office School Enforcement Division provides full-time services to the Greenville County School District as well as several Charter Schools to build a positive relationship between law enforcement, students, and school employees. The goal of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program is to reduce crime, create a safe school environment, and provide a law enforcement resource to school administrators, teachers, students, and parents.

The School Enforcement Division investigates crimes occurring on school property and provides School Resource Officers for career centers, child development centers, elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools under the Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.  The division provides school crossing guards at elementary schools and middle schools. The division also consists of two drug detection K9s, a full-time juvenile gang investigator, and a full-time unit investigator.

The School Enforcement Division also conducts various safety drills at school locations to ensure that emergency plans and procedures are being implemented effectively.
